This town is situated on the right bank of the Syr Darya River to 20 kilometers from Namangan city. The town consisted of a citadel, Shahristan and raboda. Until the XIII century Aksikent was the largest city in the Ferghana Valley. After the devastating Mongol invasion, it was restored in the XV century and became the capital of Ferghana in the reign of Umarshayh, the father of the famous Babur. In1620 year, that town was completely destroyed by the extremely strong earthquake.
